Prevento, Polly Wright

Polly Prevento, age 92, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at her home. Born November 11, 1933, in McDowell County, she was the daughter of the late Andy Wright and Millie Mullins Wright. Polly was a member of the Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed being around and taking care of others. She enjoyed reading her Glory Book and loved watching The Lone Ranger and Gunsmoke. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

In addition to her parents, Polly was preceded in death by her brothers, Luther Wright and Andrew Wright.

Survivors include her sons, Leonard Blankenship of Lindside, WV, and Edgar Blankenship and wife Freda of Ballard, WV. Also surviving are several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 12:30PM on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home in Peterstown, WV, with Pastor J.W. Ellison officiating. Burial will follow at Peterstown Cemetery in Rich Creek, VA.

Family visitation will be held from 11:30AM to 12:00PM, and public visitation will be held from 12:00PM until time of services on Saturday at the funeral home.

Edgar D. Blankenship, Leonard Blankenship, Sidney Bishop, Andy Blankenship, Tex J. Cline, and Jack Handy Jr. will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Polly’s home church, Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church (PO Box 142, Lindside, WV 24951).
