Jones, Sr., Ronald Eugene

Ronald “Poochie” Eugene Jones, 74 of Narrows, VA., went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 19, 2026, at Salem Health & Rehab. Ronnie was born on November 25, 1951, in Glen Lyn, VA, and was a son of the late Hubert Cleveland Jones and Olivia Thomas Jones. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Eugene Jones, Jr., 2 brothers, Walter Jones and James Jones.

Ronnie was a graduate of Narrows High School and was a member of the Oakvale Christian Church in Oakvale, WV. After graduating from Narrows High School, he went to work at the maintenance department at Virginia Tech. Ronnie loved God, his church, his family, his friends and was always willing to lend a hand to those in need.

He is survived by his son, Rick Jones of Roanoke, 2 grandchildren, Dominick and Dakota of Pearisburg, sister, Norma Jean McNeil of Roanoke, 4 nephews, Larry McNeil (Sharon) of Troutville, Jim Jones (Melanie) of PA, Marvin McNeil (Laurie) of MD, Walter Jones of VA, and niece, Angel Hazlewood (Steve) of Salem.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, October 24, 2026, at 12pm at the Givens – Riffe Funeral Chapel in Narrows, VA, with Minister Jim Mullins officiating with burial following in Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Rich Creek, VA. The family will receive friends at the funeral Chapel, 1 hour before the service from 11 – 12pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to the Oakvale Christian Church.
