Howard, Marvin Leotis

Marvin Leotis Howard, 92, of Elliston, Virginia passed away peacefully on October 18, 2026. He was born on September 24, 1934, in Bluefield, WV to the late John Arwood and Margaret Elizabeth Howard.

Marvin proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy from 1956-1960 and then worked at Hancock Steel in Salem, Virginia, for 34 years before retiring. A devout Christian, he was a deacon at several local churches. A true outdoorsman at heart, Marvin was happiest with his hands in the dirt and working on his tractor.

Marvin is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Lillie Hurst Howard, three brothers, and one sister. Left to cherish his memory are his three children, Wanda Boone (Sam), Marvin Howard (Anita), and Wendy Helms, six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, two brothers, and three sisters.

Marvin lived through nearly a century of change, but the principles he lived by never wavered. He was a hardworking man, a devoted husband and father, and someone whose word or handshake was his bond.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no public service or gathering.
