Thompson, Lucy Janana

Lucy Janana Thompson, 76, of Ceres, VA, passed away Friday, October 2, 2026 at Mountain Laurel Rehab & Nursing. She was born September 27, 1950 in Wytheville, VA, the daughter of the late Marse & Virginia Pauley Holsten.

Lucy was a loving sister, mother, wife, grandmother and friend. She was a follower of Christ and took comfort in her faith.

Lucy loved the Hallmark Channel. Every holiday at her house, you could be sure to see her enjoying her Christmas movies.

She loved her pets and always had a story to tell about her “little dog” or her guinea pigs.

Lucy was one of a kind and will be deeply missed, until we all can see her again.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marse & Virginia Pauley Holsten, her husband, Brady Thompson, Jr., her son, John and her siblings, Larry and Sally.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter & son-in-law, Thelma & Scotty Tickle; her beloved grandchildren, Zach, Alley, Stephen, Emaleigh and Landon; her siblings, Jimmy and Debby; her aunt Rita; her nephews, Kevin and Michael and her niece, Lisa; and several extended family and friends.

Per her wishes, Lucy has been cremated. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at 7:00 P.M. at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, White Gate, with Pastor Phillip Buttery officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until service time, 7:00 P.M.
