Sevebeck, William Roger
William Roger Sevebeck, 84 died peacefully in the arms of Jesus at his home in Blacksburg, September 18,2026. He was a faithful Christian, devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.
He was born in Lakewood, Ohio, July 3, 1942 to Ralph and Virginia Sevebeck. He graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering and a Master of Business Administration from Virginia Tech. He married Blacksburg native Kathy Pandapas on August 15, 1964.
Bill built a life centered on service to others. He began his 30-year career making bathroom fixtures for the disabled. Prior to his career at Virginia Tech, he worked for General Motors, Chevrolet Division, Polytron Corporation, Servo-Instruments of Inland Motors and was part owner of Nickols Tool. A self-proclaimed putter, he was well known to fix almost anything, often improving it in the process.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He caught a State Citation Muskellunge in the New River and many bucks on Brush Mountain. In 1993 he won 1st place in the Virginia Bowhunters State Closed Championship. He was a gifted craftsman and woodworker. He was well-known for his 1/12 scale miniature furniture reproductions. His Hitchcock chair was part of the permanent display in the Hitchcock Museum.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, his son Eric and wife Carol of Seabrook, Texas, his daughter Kimberly Hanson and husband Manni Gavia, of Charleston, SC. 4 grandchildren: Courtney Sevebeck Gould and husband Joe, Joshua Hanson, Natalie Hanson, Lauren Sevebeck and one Great Granddaughter Alice Gould, one brother-in-law two sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Kristen Sevebeck Zelensha.
His memory will live on in the lessons he taught and his love of the Lord, nature, and his family. A celebration of life will be held at Blacksburg Christian Fellowship, 2300 North Main Street, Blacksburg, Virginia at 2 o’clock, October 9. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or Hunters for the Hungry.
