ReCode Blacksburg Technical Review Report

The Technical Review and Approaches Report presents the findings of Camiros’ review of the Town’s existing development regulations and identifies approaches for updating them. It is the product of Phase 1 of ReCode Blacksburg: a detailed review of the current Code, input from Town staff and stakeholders, and an evaluation of how well existing regulations support the Town’s Comprehensive Plan and long-term goals. The report establishes a framework for the next phase of the project by highlighting key issues, outlining potential directions, and providing a basis for discussion. The approaches described in the report are intended to guide drafting; they are neither final code language nor an exhaustive list of recommended changes. Specific standards, district structures, and other regulatory details will be refined through additional analysis and coordination with the Town as the project moves forward.
A public presentation of the report will be held on Monday, October 5th from 6-7:30pm at the Blacksburg Community Center. Feedback from this meeting and comments received from the Let’s Talk page will be folded into preparation of the draft code in the next step of the process.
