Luttrell, Carol Smith

Carol Smith Luttrell, 91 of Blacksburg, VA., formerly of Pulaski, VA., passed away Friday, September 4, 2026, at English Meadows in Blacksburg.  She was born on June 4, 1935, in Leavenworth, KS to Charles Gearhardt Smith and Helen Stein Smith.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Charles G. Smith, and a daughter, Sara E. Luttrell.

Carol and Richard were former members of the Pulaski Country Club and enjoyed playing bridge.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Richard W. Luttrell of Blacksburg, four, daughters, Suzanne Bledsoe (Jim) of Pulaski; Virginia Foster (Phillip) of Radford; Helen Alderman (Ronald) of Buford, GA and Dr. Carol Anne Luttrell of New Orleans, LA.  She also leaves behind six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Pulaski, VA. Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 2pm followed by a funeral mass at 3:00pm with Father Francis Boateng.  Burial following in Draper’s Valley Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff at English Meadows Assisted Living and Gentiva Hospice for the wonderful care they provided Carol in her final days.
