Tabor, Michael Scott
Michael Scott Tabor, 62, of Narrows, Virginia, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2026, with family by his side. Born on June 24, 1964, Michael lived a life defined by gentleness, joy, and the love of his family. He loved biscuits and gravy, Dr. Pepper, ice cream, Christmas, and his many furry companions he had throughout the years.
Michael was born with Down syndrome, and those who knew him understood that it was never a limitation but simply a part of a warm and remarkable spirit. He brought his contagious laughter and sense of humor everywhere he went.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett M. (Mack) Tabor and Nellie Boothe Tabor of Narrows; his brother, Harry Lee Tabor; his sister Brenda Morrison and brother-in-law, Daniel; and his other sister, Barbara Martin and brother-in-law Frank, who lovingly cared for him for many years.
Michael was a gift to the world and to all who knew him. His surviving family, including his sister-in-law Nancy Tabor, nephew Christopher and Blythe Tabor, their children Kennedy and Sawyer, nephew Matthew Morrison, niece Maleah and her children Ragan and Daniel Hale, will continue to carry on his legacy of what truly matters—kindness, patience, pure unconditional love given freely, and the simple joy of being together.
For many years Michael made his home in Narrows, Virginia before moving to Christiansburg, Virginia and ultimately to Mechanicsville, Virginia to live with his nephew Christopher and Blythe Tabor, who were grateful to welcome him into their home and cared for him with great devotion.
Michael was adored by his favorite niece and “Disney princess”, Maleah Morrison Hale, who provided unconditional love and unwavering commitment to his wellbeing.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to caregivers for their compassion and care throughout Michael’s life.
A graveside service for immediate family will be held in Narrows, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Elm Tree Group Home, 205 Tazewell St., Pearisburg, Virginia, 24134 and that we all try to see the world and each other as Michael did.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, September 7, 2026, at 11am at the Fairview Cemetery in Narrows with Jerry Johnston officiating.
