Governor’s Flag Order 8/25
In accordance with the authority vested in me as Governor, I hereby order that the flags of the United States of America and the Commonwealth of Virginia be flown at half-staff on all state and local buildings and grounds in the Commonwealth of Virginia in memory and respect of Dolly Parton.
We honor Dolly Parton not only for her extraordinary contributions to music and culture, but also for her enduring commitment to children throughout the Commonwealth. Through the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, she has helped foster a lifelong love of reading among our youngest Virginians. Her generosity has expanded opportunity for countless children and strengthened communities across the Commonwealth. Our prayers are with her family during this difficult time.
I hereby order that the flags shall be lowered at 6:00pm ET this evening, August 25, and remain at half-staff until sunset on Tuesday, September 1.
Ordered on this 25ᵗʰ day of August 2026.
Sincerely,
Abigail D. Spanberger, Governor

Such uncalled for ugliness. Any sh- bags here are the name callers. Groceries and gas didn’t go down day one. Another war. A doctor’s appointment requires a tank of gas and the interstate. Parents and wives claim their sailor’s are living in inhumane conditions and don’t have proper nutrition.
Throw some negative energy around elsewhere.

President Trump made that order way earlier today,so she doesn’t need to act like she did something!

George W. Spradlin the important lesson here is that when her hand is forced, she acts like she’s still in control. You can’t count on them telling you if they’re being controlled by external forces.

Dolly Parton was such an humanitarian. It doesn’t matter who said it first. He said it an hour before. And?
