Wertman, Ronald Keith

Ronald Kenneth Wertman, age 82, of Peterstown, WV, and formerly Keyser, WV, passed away at his home Sunday, August 9, 2026, surrounded by family. Born June 29, 1944, in Keyser, WV, he was the son of the late Albert and Eula (Snyder) Wertman.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Fertig Umstot; and brothers, James “Jimmy” Koontz, Gladson Koontz, Marshall Koontz, and Lawrence Koontz.

A graduate of Keyser High School, he served in the US Army. Ron worked at Vepco Mt. Storm Power Plant and Heartland of Keyser before retiring from Celanese, working first in Cumberland, MD, and retiring from Narrows, VA.

Ron is survived by his wife Carolyn (Leatherman) Wertman of Peterstown, WV; daughters, Ronda Wertman and grandson Justin Wertman of Keyser, WV, and Lori Roach and husband Keith and grandson Ian Burns of Keyser, WV; brother, Doug Wertman and wife Anne of Mechanicsville, VA; brother-in-law, Gail Pratt of Keyser, WV; and sister-in-law Evelyn Machosky of Uniontown, PA; several nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends and neighbors who became his extended family.
