Fletcher, Jeanette Harris

Sarah Jeanette Fletcher, 87, of Narrows, VA, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 10, 2026, surrounded by her family. Jeanette was born on May 2, 1939, in Narrows and was a daughter of the late Luther Arvel Harris and Hattie Irene Blankenship Harris.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Luther “Jerry” Harris and Larry Carman Harris, grandson, Matthew Scott Fletcher and the father of her children, Franklin Wolford Fletcher, Sr.

Jeanette was a graduate of Narrows High School and New River Community College in Dublin. She attended Cornerstone Church in Narrows. She has previously worked at Harris Grocery and Produce in Narrows, Roller Floral in Pearisburg, Celanese Corp. in Narrows, Radford Ammunition Plant in Radford, Magic Mart and Wal-Mart in Pearisburg. As the family historian, she enjoyed collecting and researching family genealogy. She was an avid reader and enjoyed Appalachian history as well as collecting and reading local history. She battled Parkinson for 15 plus years.

She is survived by her children, Franklin Wolford Fletcher, Jr. (Teresa) of Pearisburg, Luther Theodore Fletcher of Chelsea, Michigan, Darrell Eugene Fletcher (Darlene) of Princeton, WV, Joseph DeWayne Fletcher (Pat) of Galax, Lenora Jane Fletcher of Narrows, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, brother, Marlon D. Harris (Waynette) of Blacksburg, sister-in-law, Evelyn M. Harris of Narrows and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at 11am at the Givens – Riffe Funeral Chapel in Narrows with Dr. Luther Ward Harris officiating with burial following in Fairview Cemetery in Narrows. The family will receive friends Monday evening 6 – 8 pm.
