Anderson, Fred Franklin

Fred Franklin Anderson, age 96, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at the Carilion Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg, VA. Born September 1, 1929, in Mt. Airy, NC, he was the son of the late William David and Rosie Smith Anderson.

Fred was a U.S. Army Veteran and later worked as an Area Supervisor for Pike Electric. He was a member of the Rich Creek Lions club for 50+ years and was an avid gardener and enjoyed woodworking.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jo Overby Anderson; and brother, William Anderson.

Survivors include one son, Mike Anderson and wife Tammy of Narrows, VA; one daughter, Jeanette Bradley and husband David of Raleigh, NC; sister-in-law, Veneeda Anderson of Mt. Airy, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
