Robert Dwayne Burton “Pee Wee” beloved son, brother father and devoted partner of Christiansburg Va. passed away peacefully on March 22,2026 surrounded with his family around him.

Known for his warmth, humor and love of life, Dwayne brought joy to everyone around him. He was the kind of person who never met a stranger, if you crossed his path, you were likely to leave as a friend. He had a way about him- warm, easy-going and always ready to strike up a conversation.

Dwayne leaves behind a family who will miss him deeply. He is survived by his mother, Barbara Burton Shelor; his beloved partner of 25 years, Dana Payne; daughter, Kara Beth Burton; stepson, John Payne (Jessica); his siblings, Lisa Hatcher (Butch), Cindy Price (Mike), Reverend Ray Burton, (Nikki) , and Reverend Roy Burton (Valerie); aunt and uncle, Patty and Donnie Lytton; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and so many special friends he made throughout his life.

The family will receive friends on Monday, March 23 from 1 to 2 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home A service to celebrate Dwayne’s life will follow at 2 p.m. officiated by Pastor Davie Whitlock and Pastor Michael Bond.

The family would like to give special recognition to our sister Lisa Hatcher who selflessly devoted herself to Dwayne’s care during his illness. They also sincerely thank Good Samaritan Hospice for their compassionate support.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Horne Funeral Home to help cover expenses.

Dwayne’s memory will live on in the stories, laughter, and love he leaves behind.
