Prince, John Edward

Prince, John Edward 2John Edward Prince, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at the Lindside Healthcare Center in Lindside, WV. Born April 15, 1941, in Beckley, WV, he was the son of the late John Quincy and Mildred Smith Prince.

John delivered the mail in Washington, D.C., until he came back to WV, where he started working construction and owned the New Richmond Skating Rink. He altered the lives of many young boys, teaching them construction and work ethic and being a great example of what a man and father figure should look like. He then delivered newspapers for eight years in several counties.

He was saved and baptized in the late 1970s after being convicted since the 1960s. He played the keyboard and sang in church, as he attended the Orchard Christian Center, and later joined the First Missionary Baptist Church of Ballard.

He was a friend to many and will be missed by all who knew him, including his church family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Ann Parani. Those left to cherish his memory are the many friends he made throughout his life.

In keeping with John’s wishes, he will be buried at the Peterstown Cemetery with no formal services. Online guestbook can be signed or condolences may be sent to the loved ones at www.broyles-shrewsbury.com. Arrangements by Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, Peterstown, WV.
