Hazelwood, Jane Clemons

Hazelwood, Jane Clemons 2Jane Elizabeth Clemons Hazelwood, of Rich Creek, Virginia, was born on December 31, 1943, and departed this life on February 15, 2026. She lived a life defined by quiet faith, steady service, and deep love for her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hale Clemons and Alese Thomas Clemons of Glen Lyn, Virginia.

Jane is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, William Arthur “Stewart” Hazelwood; her son, William Michael Hazelwood (Courtney) of Pearisburg, Virginia; her brother, William Buck Clemons (Margaret) of Narrows, Virginia; and her three very special grandchildren, Julia Hazelwood, Alison Hazelwood, and Gavin Hazelwood, who were the light of her life. She is also survived by two devoted and cherished friends, Doris Lindsey and Connie Spicer.

Jane was a long-time and faithful member of the Glen Lyn Church of Christ, where she served as a Sunday School teacher for more than 40 years and sang in the church choir. Her faith was steady, her service was quiet and constant, and she gave of her time with a servant’s heart that shaped generations of children and fellow worshippers.

She had a lifelong love for sewing and worked for many years at Oxford of Giles in Pearisburg, Virginia, where she sewed until the plant closed in 1998. She then worked at Macy McClaugherty with Giles County Public Schools, where she continued her dedication to serving others until her retirement.

Jane enjoyed traveling with her friends, sewing, and spending time at church, but above all she loved her family. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy, and she never missed a chance to remind them that she loved them “to the moon and back.” That love will remain with them always.

Her life was marked by devotion to family, faith, and service, and she will be remembered for her gentle spirit, steady hands, and generous heart.
