Akers, Martha Trump

Martha Akers, affectionately known by her family as “Red,” of Christiansburg, VA, passed away on January 15, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Trump and Mary Trump, both of Christiansburg, VA.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Michael Akers; her sons, Mickey Akers and Mark Akers; her daughter-in-law, Cindy Akers; and her beloved grandchildren, Hailey Akers and Macie Akers.

Martha was a proud long-time member of the Shawsville Volunteer Rescue Squad and a lifelong resident of the Christiansburg and Shawsville community. Her family is grateful for the time they were able to spend with her and would like to thank Bon Secours Hospice for their compassionate care.

The family is currently working to organize a time of togetherness for family and friends to offer condolences and celebrate Martha’s life.
