Walk to End Alzheimer's NRV raises $75K 4Participants in the 2025 WALK TO END ALZHEIMER’S NRV raised $75,000 to support the care, support and research programs of the Alzheimer’s Association.

“The Alzheimer’s Association Central and Western Virginia sincerely thanks the many dedicated Walk participants, volunteers and sponsors who made the 2025 Walk to End Alzheimer’s a tremendous success,” said Jeanne Snyder, Community Executive. “The funds raised will help fuel disease research while also providing critical care and support to individuals and families affected by Alzheimer’s and other dementia.”

Sigma Kappa Epsilon Chi from Virginia Tech was the top fundraising team at this year’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s, raising more than $35.600.

Walk to End Alzheimer's NRV raises $75K 5“I walked in honor of my grandmother, who is currently living with Alzheimer’s disease and for all families impacted by this devastating disease, ” said Madeline Rudd, the captain of the Sigma Kappa team and the Walk’s top fundraiser. “My grandmother’s diagnosis of early-onset Alzheimer’s five years ago has deeply affected both me and my family, and we continue to face the emotional and physical toll that this disease brings.”

720 people were registered for the Walk this year on 37 teams at Huckleberry Park on Nov. 2. WSLS’s Abbie Coleman was the host of the opening ceremony.

Additionally, more than 12 million family members and friends provide care to people living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias. In Virginia there are more than 165,000 people living with the disease and 324,000 caregivers.
