Lovern, Sr., Freddie Lee

Lovern, Sr., Freddie Lee 2Beloved husband and father, Freddie Lee Lovern Sr., was called to his heavenly home on November 6, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Freddie was born on December 6, 1938, to Wiley Lovern and Dorothy Lee Cromer Lovern.

Including his parents, he is preceded in death by sisters, Shirleane Luokkala, Kathy Brammer, Emma Diane Hughes, and Linda Steele; brother, Johnnie Lovern; and brothers-in-law, Charlie Agee and Clinton Steele.

Freddie was a free spirit. He joined the Navy as a teen and had the privilege of seeing so many beautiful places around the world, and he loved to reminisce about all those wild adventures.

Eventually, he settled back in Blacksburg and became a carpenter who was looked up to for his knowledge and craftsmanship. He would proudly point out the hundreds of houses he helped build or renovate around town.

While Freddie loved fast cars, faster motorcycles, and adventures, what he loved most was his family and friends.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Theresa Lovern; children, Juanita Hackman (Steve), Sandra Davis (Ron), Freddie Lovern Jr., and Madeline Joyce (Caleb); grandchildren, Michelle Lovern, Wendy Long, and Timmy Long; great-grandchildren, Trevor and Tyler Krafft; sisters, Jean Hodges (Earl), Nina Eanes, Hazel Agee, Fay Adam (Buddy) brother, Jerry Lovern (Jane); and brother-in-law, Pete Luokkala.

Please come and celebrate his life with us on Monday, November 10, 2025, at 2:00 pm in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm before the service.
