Vaught, Maxine Surface
Maxine V. Vaught, age 86, of Christiansburg, died Sunday, September 14, 2025, at her home. She was born in Montgomery County, VA, on February 16, 1939, to the late Jessie and Vivian Linkous Surface. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Homer T. Vaught.
She is survived by her children, Gary Vaught (Linda), Barry Vaught, Timmy Vaught (Rita), Sherry Mabry (George Stewart), Donnie Vaught, Cindy Thornton (Vincent Akers); fifteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sister Geneva Moye; brother, James Surface; and half-brother, Ricky Pearman.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to her devoted son, Donnie, and caregivers, Melissa Britts, and the crew at Amedisys Hospice.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Neal Turner officiating. Interment will follow at Harless Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am prior to the service at McCoy Funeral Home.

To the best Mother a man can have , Mom I miss you already and I count the days until we all are reunited again in heaven. I know your there with Dad and all your loved ones that you missed so dearly. my life will not be the same without you in it but I’ll try and make you proud.
