9/24: Community Forum
On Wednesday, September 24, 2025, the League of Women Voters of Montgomery County, Virginia, is sponsoring and the Montgomery, Radford, Floyd NAACP, and the Lifelong Learning Institute of Virginia Tech are co-sponsoring a Community Forum. The forum will begin at 7pm in the Blacksburg Town Council chambers at 300 South Main Street.
Our speakers will be Max Stephenson, Professor of Public and International Affairs and Director of the Virginia Tech Institute for Policy and Governance and Brandy Faulkner, Professor of Political Science and the Gloria D. Smith Professor of Black Studies at Virginia Tech.
The Trump Administration has moved aggressively to change government policies, values, and structures. Various interest groups have sued to prevent the changes. The courts stand at the nexus of action and resistance. Among the topics we will explore are the justice system’s ability to uphold the constitution, rule of law, and balance of power; how the courts have blocked or enabled administrative actions; and the prospects for our democracy.
This event is free and open to the public.
