Thompson, Corey Jackson
Corey Jackson Thompson, 39, left this world too soon on Monday, August 25, 2025, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital after a brief and hard-fought battle with cancer. Corey was born on July 12, 1986, in Blacksburg, VA, to his mother, Karen Thompson Turner (Clyde Turner) of Narrows. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Ralph E. Thompson, his paternal grandmother, Helen Louise Rimel, and his nephew, Bryce Edwards.
Corey was a lifelong resident of Narrows and a proud Green Wave. He graduated from Narrows High School in 2004 and completed a two-year program in heating and air conditioning. For ten years, he was employed by McGrady and Perdue Heating and Air in Christiansburg. From 2015 to 2017, Corey was a proud co-owner of Right Turn, Clyde Brewing Co. in Narrows.
He loved the outdoors and enjoyed playing disc golf, kayaking, hiking, soccer, and various other sports. Corey was a lifelong fan of UVA and the San Francisco 49ers. He had a passion for Heavy Metal and Hard Rock music, especially AC/DC. Corey cherished spending time with his two young sons, whom he was extremely proud of, as well as his family and friends. He never missed an opportunity to visit Harker’s Island, NC, with his wife and family or to see his relatives in Bath County, VA. He will be greatly missed by his family and everyone fortunate enough to have known him.
In addition to his mother and stepfather, Corey is survived by his wife, Lindsey Ammon Thompson of Narrows; his two sons, Guy Jackson Thompson and Harker Loran Thompson, both of Narrows; one brother, Matthew Joseph Guynn (Cassidy) of Narrows; three sisters, Trisha Christine Edwards (Jason) of Waynesboro, Ashley Renee Pennington (Matt) of Narrows, and Jocy Guynn Vuiller (Matt) of Richmond; two stepbrothers, Chad Turner of Narrows and Ryan Turner (Maggie) of Pembroke; his grandmother, Carol Bradley Thompson of Narrows; his grandfather, Guy Rimel of Bath County; and numerous nieces and nephews: Jorja, Jaden, Caius, Miles, Adalyn, Nolan, Bodhi, and Myla. He is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Amanda Caudill (Richard) of Pearisburg and Gracie Caudill of Narrows, as well as many special cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at the Narrows Community Center (Annex), located at 110 Mary St., Narrows, VA, at 24124, with Pastor Dennis Kidd and Rev. Steve Leonard officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM.
