Floyd Rotary Dog Show June 8
The Floyd Rotary Club invites the community to its 6th Annual Dog Show, a light-hearted and family-friendly event, taking place on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Warren G. Lineberry Park in downtown Floyd. Registration begins at 1:15 p.m., and the show starts at 2:00 p.m.
Designed to celebrate the fun side of being a dog lover, this relaxed, informal show welcomes adults and children ages 9 and up to enter their four-legged companions in a variety of playful categories. There is no admission fee for spectators, and audiences of all ages are welcome to come enjoy the show.
“This is intended to be a fun, light-hearted fundraiser with informal judging and a focus on community, not a serious competition,” said Kelly Weeks, one of the event organizers. “Many past participants have expressed how much they enjoyed the chance to connect, laugh, and let their dogs socialize in a relaxed setting.”
This year’s judge is Katie Hatcher, who has worked extensively with all types of dogs as an assistant at Blue Ridge Veterinary Hospital. Entry is $5 per class, and all proceeds will help support plans for a future dog park in Floyd County. Ribbons will be awarded in each of the following categories:
- Most Excited Dog
- Best Coat
- Best Treat Catcher
- Most Gorgeous Dog Over 8 Years
- Best Owner-Dog Look-a-like
- Best Trick
- Cutest Puppy Under 1 Year
- Best Eyes
- Best Mixed Breed Dog
- Best Purebred Dog
- Best Costume
- Best Child Handler Under 12
- Dog That Judge Would Most Like to Take Home
Please note: all participating dogs must be on leash and up to date on vaccinations. The “Purebred” category is based on the handler’s word—but the judge might know, too.
Join other dogs with their humans for a joyful afternoon filled with wagging tails, community spirit, and a lot of fun.
