Lily Franklin Named Democratic Nominee

Lily Franklin Named Democratic Nominee 2Today, Lily Franklin became the Democratic Nominee for the House of Delegates District 41. In 2023, Lily ran for the same seat and came up just 183 votes short, making this one of the top and most flippable races in 2025.

“I’ve spent my whole life in these mountains. This is my home, and I know we deserve better than the representation we’re getting in Richmond,” said Lily Franklin. “Southwest Virginia deserves the tools to build a future where we can thrive at every stage of life. That means ensuring every child gets a world-class education, young people can find good-paying jobs, working families have the support they need, and our seniors can retire with dignity. For far too long, so many politicians, including our current state representative, have forgotten about us. It’s time we have leaders who understand this community and who will go to Richmond and deliver for us.”

Lily knows the challenges Southwest Virginia’s families face, and more importantly, the opportunities for families if we have the right leadership. She is a graduate of Northside High School and a former teacher who at times worked 2-3 jobs to support her family and pay her way through college. She served as Chief of Staff for Delegate Sam Rasoul for five years, where she championed legislation to support working families, protect our drinking water, and the development of a grant program to support local farming and food infrastructure. She resides in Blacksburg with her beagle, Poppy.
