Spangler, Charles Michael

Charles Michael “Shorty” Spangler, age 58, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at his home in Ballard, WV. Born January 31, 1967, in Pearisburg, VA, he was the son of Anna Jean Spangler McCraw.

Shorty worked as a driver for Wall-Connections, providing non-emergency transportation to many people in the area. He loved ZZ Top and enjoyed going to their concerts whenever he could. Another passion of his was NASCAR, especially his favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt. He also enjoyed old cars, and riding his side by side whenever he had the chance.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, John Thomas McCraw; and his grandparents, Gaston P. Spangler Jr. and Trusbie E. Canterbury Spangler.

Those left to cherish his memory include three special aunts, Evelyn Dunn and husband Carl of Ballard, WV, Eleanor Miller and husband Richard of Ballard, WV, and Brenda Mann and husband Bobby of Greenville, WV; three uncles, Ralph, Benny, and Jerry Spangler; his best, life-long friend, Donna White; special cousin, Guy Jackson Thompson; and many other cousins, extended family members, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 5:00PM on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home in Peterstown, WV, with Pastor Tim Sanderson officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00PM until time of services on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Due to the weather and conditions of the Red Sulphur Springs Community Church Cemetery, burial will take place at a later date.
