Robinson, Jr., Frank Millard
Frank “Buddy” Robinson Jr. went to be with the Lord on October 29, 2024 at English Meadows in Blacksburg, VA at the age of 88, after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Known to all his family and friends as Buddy, Dad, and Papaw, he was a man who adored his family and loved his home. He never met a stranger and enjoyed engaging in conversation. He valued his church family and enjoyed visiting with his neighbors. As a ham radio operator, Buddy frequently talked to people from all over the United States and different parts of the world. He could be found tinkering in his basement workshop, visiting with family on the back patio and feeding the birds.
Buddy was born on February 1,1936 in Christiansburg, VA to Frank Robinson, Sr. and Glada Akers Robinson. He graduated from Christiansburg High School in 1954 and served in the Virginia National Guard. He met and married Betty, the love of his life, in 1961. After 30 years of service, Buddy retired from General Electric in Salem. In retirement, Buddy enjoyed traveling, eating out, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frank M. Robinson, Sr. and his mother, Glada Akers Robinson.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 62 years, Betty Robinson, his two daughters, Lynn (Robby) Dickerson of Christiansburg, VA and Dawn (David) Stewart of Simpsonville, SC, Five grandsons, Jonathan (Laura) Dickerson and Ethan (Hailey) Dickerson of Christiansburg, VA, Matthew (Jessalyn) Dickerson of Topeka, KS, Alex (Amanda) Stewart of Spartanburg, SC and Aaron (Leslie) Stewart of Greenville, SC, eight great grandchildren and many friends and neighbors.
A special thank-you to Kimberly Weeks, Medi Home Health & Hospice, and the attentive, kind people at English Meadows for their care and compassion.
