Cars for Homes Campaign
Habitat for Humanity of the New River Valley (NRV) is launching a community-wide initiative through the Cars for Homes program to raise $90,000—enough to fund the construction of a new home for a family in the NRV. The campaign encourages citizens, businesses, and local officials to participate by donating unwanted vehicles, including cars, trucks, RVs, and boats.
“How many cars will it take to raise $90,000? We don’t know—but let’s find out together!” said Jim Drader, Executive Director at Habitat for Humanity NRV. “This is an exciting opportunity for the community to come together and make a lasting impact by turning old vehicles into new hope.”
How the Cars for Homes Program Works
Cars for Homes offers a simple, hassle-free donation process. Habitat handles towing, paperwork, and recycling or reselling the vehicle at no cost to donors. In addition, participants will receive a tax-deductible receipt for the value of their donation.
All funds generated from this campaign will be used to build a home for a family in need within the NRV area.
Who Can Participate?
• Citizens: Individuals with old, unused vehicles are encouraged to donate and be part of this community effort.
• Auto Dealers & Parts Retailers: Local businesses can motivate customers to donate trade-ins or parts vehicles that otherwise go unused.
• Code Enforcement Officers: Officers can support the campaign by encouraging the removal of abandoned vehicles through the program, benefiting both neighborhoods and the community.
