Williams, Laura Via
Laura Ann Via Williams, age 84, entered her heavenly home on Friday, August 30, 2024, at the Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA. Born August 17, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Roy D. and Gladys Frazier Via.
Laura was a member of the Ballard First Missionary Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and retired from Celanese after 15 years. She loved being outside enjoying God’s creations and tending to her plants and flowers. She enjoyed puzzles and loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Dennis Via; and two sisters, Nina Neese and Norma Whitlow.
Survivors include her loving husband of 63 years, Alfred Williams; two daughters, Tamera “Tammy” Williams of Bozoo, WV, and Janet Humphreys and husband Fred of Pembroke, VA; four grandchildren, Olivia Baker and husband Nick, Houston Humphreys, Zachary Humphreys, and Luke Humphreys; one great grandchild, Isaac Baker; special nephew, Wayne Via; and special nieces, Joyce Fox and Susan Leighton.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00PM on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home in Peterstown, WV, with Pastor Steve Howdock officiating. Burial will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Rich Creek, VA.
Visitation will be held from 11:00AM until time of services on Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Laura’s name to Ballard Missionary Baptist Church (P.O. Box 64, Ballard, WV 24918).
