Reed, Alfred Dean
Alfred Dean “T-Baby” Reed, 95, peacefully passed away Sunday, August 25, 2024, at his home in Rich Creek, VA. Born April 6, 1929, he and his twin brother Gene were the youngest of the 12 children of Henry and Nettie Reed.
Dean was a kind and generous person who always had an infectious smile on his face and a story ready to tell, he never met a stranger. He was well-known for his singing and guitar playing, and for his remarkable ability to remember hundreds of tunes. He also enjoyed teaching music to others, he was dedicated to preserving local music traditions for future generations. He worked at Celanese for 47 years, many of which he proudly served as a union representative. He was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.
He was preceded in death by his son Gary Reed, his wife Billie Sue Reed, and 11 siblings. Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Sherry Jennings and husband Steve of Carmel, IN; son, Terry Reed of Rich Creek, VA; granddaughter, Lindsay Worswick and husband Andrew of Zionsville, IN, and their three children, Presley, Reese, and Nash; grandson, Andrew Jennings and wife Maria of Chester Springs, PA, and their three children, Conner, Grant, and Olivia; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services with military honors will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday, September 1, 2024, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, WV, with Aubrey Whitlow officiating. Burial will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Rich Creek, VA. Visitation will be held from 4:00PM until 6:00PM on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at the funeral home.
