Blacksburg En Blanc: August 10
On Saturday, August 10 from 7:00pm – 10:00pm, the Blacksburg Museum and Cultural Foundation (BMCF) will host a picnic fundraiser on the lawn of the Alexander Black House, with the relaunch of the Blacksburg en Blanc picnic dinner.
The BMCF will provide professional tents with cafe lighting, tables & family style seating, music, lawn games, and more; you and your group provide your creative picnic feast and any table decorations you would like. In the tradition of the Dîner en Blanc you can show off your best white summer apparel. It is a festive way to dine with friends and close out the season.
Tickets are $30/person and are available for sale in advance only; they will not be sold at the event. To register, and learn more about this event, please click here.
Dîner en Blanc History
The Dîner en Blanc (“Dinner in White” in French) concept began in Paris in 1988 when François Pasquier invited a group of friends to an elegant outdoor dinner at the Bois de Boulogne, asking them to dress in white so they could find each other. It is now a worldwide annual event spanning six continents. Diners were required to provide their food, tables, chairs, and tablecloths. Only a select number of participants who previously signed up were made privy to the location the day of the dinner and generally converged in an iconic urban location.
