Polk, Nova Cox
Nova Gaye Polk, age 90, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2024, at the Peyton Hospice House in Lewisburg, WV. Born May 1, 1934, in Rhodell, WV, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Eula V. Minnick Cox.
Nova was a homemaker who loved gardening, canning, painting, crocheting, and growing beautiful flowers. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Coldia Polk; three sons, Glenn, Richard, and Jimmy Polk; brothers, Eugene, Larry, Stanley, and Clayton Cox; sisters, Lorene Wood and Peggy Gration; and an infant sister.
Survivors include two daughters, Deborah Vance and husband Jerry, and Teri Polifka; one brother, Roger Cox; three sisters, Edie Miller, Shelby Carter, and Sandy Alfrey; grandchildren, Melanie, Melissa, Melinda, Michael, Angi, J.R., Justin, Jamie Sue, Jenna, Jennifer, Crystle, Josiah, Heather, Nick, and Kristen; and several great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Additionally, the family would like to extend a special thank you to the Lewisburg Healthcare Center, Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, and the Peyton Hospice House for the excellent care that Nova received.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, WV, with Rev. Dean Wood officiating. Burial will follow at the Peterstown Cemetery in Rich Creek, VA, with Michael Vance, Jeb Brierley, Noah Brierley, James Mullins, Corey Deck, and Barry Wood serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held from 1:00PM until time of services on Saturday at the funeral home.
