Veteran photographer to present historical camera at photo club meeting
Russell Young, internationally recognized photographer and founder and managing director of the Appalachian Center for Photography in Floyd, Va., will be the guest speaker at the Radford Photo Club Wednesday, July 24, meeting at 6 p.m. at the Radford Public Library.
Young will talk about large format cameras and how they have shaped the world of photography. He will showcase, demonstrate, and share the same type of camera used by Ansel Adams to captured his famous photos of Yosemite National Park.
In addition to experience with the tools that produced some of the most iconic images in the history of photography, Young has a master’s degree in photography from the University of Texas and a doctorate from Saint Andrews University in Scotland.
Dr. Young’s presentation is open to the public at no charge. The Radford Photo Club is made up of professional and amateur photographers from throughout the New River Valley. Meetings, events, and outings are open to the public. The photo challenge for July is outdoor night photography. There is also an open category.
