Coleman, Mary Hale
Mary Ellen Coleman 60, of Christiansburg, gained her heavenly wings July 10, 2024. She is preceded in death by the love of her life, Jeff Crosier; father, Bud Coleman; step-father, Clarence Hale and many fur babies including Ottis, Buffy, Riley, Cornbread, Tater, and Momma Dog to name a few.
She is survived by her mother Linda Hale of Christiansburg, VA.; brothers, Pete Hale of Pilot, VA, and Dwayne Hale of Christiansburg, VA.: Nieces, Ashley Strawn and Caitlyn Hale; Nephew, Casey Hale; Special Cousins, Marilyn Altizer and Vera Coleman; and her beloved fur babies, Issaboo and Gypsy.
In 2012 Mary was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer which she immediately gave to God and went on with her life. She often told the doctors that they did not have the last say and that she wasn’t going anywhere until God was ready for her. Her many friends and family members marveled at her grit and sheer determination to continue working and living life as usual. She loved taking care of her family, her garden, and her many fur babies. She never met an animal that she didn’t love, especially dogs. Over the years she worked with and donated to many rescue and animal shelters.
Mary was a graduate of Auburn High School. She attended Power of Deliverance Ministries in Dublin, VA where she enjoyed worshiping with many friends. She was a brilliant entrepreneur founding M and M Sparkle, Buffies Kitchen, and Sparkling Envy. She participated in many local festivals and farmer’s markets selling her jewelry, cakes, jellies, and candies. She loved working, often working two jobs. After high school, she began working at Shoney’s in Christiansburg, where she became a manager. Later she started working as a K-12 Segment Specialist at Advantage Waypoint Sales and Marketing, then as a server for Golden Coral in Christiansburg, and later in Roanoke while working part-time as a receptionist at Town and Country Veterinary Clinic in Christiansburg. She loved the many people she worked with and for over the years and considered many of her coworkers as family.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Donna Patterson with Amedisys Home Health Care. Amedisys Hospice of Salem. Power of Deliverance Ministries for the visits and food. The many friends and family that visited with and helped with Mary in her last days.
