Swain, Anne Maxey

Anne Swain, 76 of Christiansburg, passed away on July 4, 2024. Anne was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Swain; parents, Paul and Bettie Maxey; sister, Linda Maxwell; and brother, Jimmy Maxey.

Those left to mourn her loss are her sons, Chuck (Missy), and Jay; grandkids, Brad, Dirk, LeAnne (Austin), Hannah, and James; great-grandkids, Cyris and Olive; brother-in-law, David Maxwell; and much-loved nieces and nephews and their children. She will also be missed by her fur babies, Jilly, Marley, Patsy, Sally and Chowder.

In addition to raising her family, Anne worked at Ritter Finance, Federal Mogul Credit Union and she retired from Virginia Tech Veterinary Hospital where she was able to adopt several dogs, which was her passion. She was the greatest friend anyone could have ever asked for. She loved her husband, sons, grandkids and great-grandkids to the moon and back. I know she would have told us all “Careful, Miss you, Love you” one last time.

We will have a gathering of friends and family on Sunday, July 7, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Chuck and Missy’s house. In lieu of flowers, Anne Would have loved for you to donate to your favorite animal rescue organization or to the ALS Association.
