$171,616 to Virginia Tech for Zika Virus Research
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded Virginia Tech a $171,616 exploratory grant for allergy, immunology and transplantation research related to the Zika virus. The research involved for this project will not include gain-of-function research. U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement:
“There is currently no known treatment for Zika virus.”
“This exploratory grant for $171,616 helps Virginia Tech conduct essential research on Zika virus and better educate the scientific community on the disease.”
