DeCosta, Shari Cox

Shari Marie DeCosta, 60 of Christiansburg, passed away March 31, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael DeCosta; and parents, Elsie and Kelly Calvin Cox.

Shari is survived by her daughter, Michelle Light (Kenny); grandchildren, Camden Mielnicki, McKinley Light, Brienne Light; siblings, Calvin Cox (Susan), Joel Cox (Terrie), Marlon Cox (Tammy), Barbara Minnick (Robbie), Marlene Smith (Chris); as well as numerous aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Shari loved spending time with her family, especially her three grand babies who called her Nana. She loved being home. She was a loving wife, mother and Nana. Shari had a great sense of humor and never complained but remained positive throughout her short battle with stage 4 metastatic lung cancer.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 4, 2024, from 1-2 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. Funeral Services will begin at 2 p.m. in the Chapel with Pastor Jimmy McLane officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Carilion Roanoke Memorial 8th and 10th floor doctors and nurses, friend and neighbor Lynda Atkins-Bradbury, and Carilion Hospice.
