Sadler, Susie Stump 4Lois Faye “Susie” Sadler, age 89, of Pembroke, Virginia, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on March 30, 2024. Born in Giles County, Virginia, on November 26, 1934, to the late Charles and Grace Albert Stump, Susie was a beacon of warmth and kindness to all who knew her.

Susie was the cherished wife of John Randolph Sadler, her devoted partner in life’s journey. Together they raised three sons, David “Chuck” and his wife Melissa, Kevin “Buck” and his wife Karen, and Eric and his wife Michelle. Susie’s joy was multiplied by her beloved grandchildren, Jessica and Sarah Sadler, as well as step-grandchildren, Anthony Bryant and Kristin Martin, and step-great-grandchildren, David and Brooklyn Martin. She is also survived by her loving sister, Donnie Mann of Vinton, Virginia. In addition to her parents, Susie was preceded in death by her brothers, Lynwood, Tuck, and Johnny Stump, and sisters, Dorothy Blackburn, Janney Lucas, Phyllis Gusler, Margaret French, Frances Evans, and Nancy Thacker.

A dedicated employee, Susie retired from Celanese after more than four decades of service. Her work ethic and commitment to excellence left a lasting impact on her colleagues and the many lives she touched through her professional journey.

As a lifelong member of Mountain View First United Methodist Church for over 50 years, Susie’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. She lived her beliefs through acts of service and an open heart, touching the lives of many within her church community.

Susie’s creative spirit found expression in her love for quilting, crochet, and various crafts. Her hands were rarely still, as she took great pleasure in creating beautiful pieces for her family and friends. Her love for gardening could be seen in the vibrant flowers and bountiful vegetables that adorned her home, a testament to her nurturing spirit. Susie’s culinary skills were unparalleled, and her kitchen was a place of gathering, laughter, and the sharing of her delicious home-cooked meals.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt appreciation to Susie’s caregivers, Malinda Hodge, Joyce Lucas, Dee Woolwine, Teresa, Alexis, and Rhonda, for their unwavering dedication and the compassionate care they provided. Their kindness and support were a source of great comfort to Susie and her family during her final days.

Susie’s life was a beautiful tapestry of love, service, and the joy of simple pleasures. Her legacy of kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for her family will forever be cherished and remembered by all who were blessed to know her.

A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Please join us in celebrating the life of Lois Faye “Susie” Sadler as we bid her a peaceful farewell. The family will receive friends in a time of visitation on Monday, April 1, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 11:00 AM in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tim Smith officiating. Funeral services will conclude at Birchlawn Memorial Gardens in Pearisburg, Virginia where she will be laid to rest. The family will have a bereavement dinner prepared at Mountain View First United Methodist Church following the service which is a tradition in the charge.
