OurBus connects Roanoke Airport to Blacksburg
Since 2021, OurBus has offered convenient, reasonably-priced rides to and from Virginia Tech’s main campus in Blacksburg, VA. This year, a new experimental service will be offered connecting Roanoke – Blacksburg Regional Airport (ROA) to Virginia Tech on Sunday 3/10/24. The new Sunday service is designed to fill a gap in the schedule of the SmartWay bus, which connects these locations from Monday to Saturday.
Locations:
At Roanoke Airport, the bus stop will pick up right in front of the terminal, at the designated kiss-and-ride area. In Blacksburg, buses will drop off on the curb outside Lane Stadium.
Ticket and schedules:
To start with, 6 schedules will be offered between 1:35 pm and 9:05 pm. To browse the schedules click here.
Additional trips in the morning and late evening are being offered in activation mode. These trips will be confirmed if enough people sign up.
Tickets are priced at $25 each way, offering a significant saving compared to the cost of a taxi or rideshare. Tickets are refundable, plus, if you are running late, you can contact OurBus customer service to reschedule to a later bus at no cost. smiley
Future plans:
This service is being offered on a trial basis for Spring break 2024. Depending on the level of interest, we will decide whether to run for future Sundays when Hokies are traveling, including the Sunday after Thanksgiving, the Sunday of fall break, etc.
