Sanders, Beulah Brumfield 4Beulah Mae Brumfield Sanders, a beacon of love and thoughtfulness, passed away peacefully on her 94th birthday, January 11, 2024. She lived a life characterized by devotion to her family, a passion for the natural world, and an unwavering commitment to nurturing the growth of both plants and relationships alike.

Born on January 11, 1930, in Virginia to Charles and Mae Hilton Brumfield, Beulah grew up surrounded by the beauty of the countryside that she would always hold dear. She carried the lessons of her upbringing throughout her life, sharing the importance of family and the joy of simple pleasures with everyone she met.

Beulah’s legacy is lovingly carried on through her family, including her sons Charlie Sanders of Narrows, and Larry Sanders with his wife Becky of Pembroke; her daughters Eula Rankin, Linda Sanders, Mary Butler, and Freda Sanders, all of Pembroke. She was the proud grandmother to 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren who will forever cherish the memories and wisdom she imparted. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Sanders; daughters-in-law, Shelby and Monica Sanders; her son-in-law, Gary Butler; granddaughters, Melissa Sanders, and Lisa Sanders; and her siblings Kenneth Brumfield, Glenna Snider, Janey McCraw, and Rowena Burton, her spirit continues to unite the family across generations.

A woman of many interests, Beulah found serenity in watching for deer at dawn, and her gardens were a testament to her patience and skill. She cultivated beauty through her flower gardening, and her practical knowledge of canning and cooking ensured that her family was always surrounded by the bounty of her harvest. Her home was a warm and inviting place, filled with the aroma of her delicious meals and the sight of her well-tended flowers.

Those who knew Beulah would describe her as the epitome of loving and thoughtful. She had a way of making each person she encountered feel valued and heard. Her kindness was a gentle force that inspired others to act with compassion in their own lives. Beulah Mae Brumfield Sanders lived a full and vibrant life, rooted in the things that mattered most to her: family, nature, and the joy of everyday wonders. Her passing leaves a void in the lives of those who knew her, but her influence will continue to blossom in the lives of her descendants and in the beauty of the gardens she so lovingly tended. Her spirit, like the flowers she cherished, will endure through the seasons of life, a lasting tribute to a life well-lived.

The family will receive friends in a time of visitation on Sunday, January 14, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will be conducted on Monday, January 15, 2024 at 2:00 PM in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel with Gary Poff officiating.
