Also left to cherish her memory are many cousins, nephews and nieces that she loved dearly.

Doris lived most of her married life in Christiansburg where she served for the Montgomery County School system for many years as payroll clerk and in later years, the secretary at a Christiansburg High School.

She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She left her grandchildren with so many wonderful memories of fishing and picnics on Little River, playing ball in the basement, and so many more memories too numerous to count. She attended every activity with her grandchildren from Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts to their races at the drag strip. They were her pride and joy.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 10 from 4-7 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home, 1300 North Franklin Street, in Christiansburg. The funeral will be held at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 220 West Main Street, Christiansburg on Thursday, January 11 at 1p.m. with Mike Derflinger officiating.
