9/28: NRV Sheep & Goat Festival

Help Bo Peep find her Sheep! It’s the 4th annual G.O.A.T. (Greatest of All Time) Sheep and Goat Festival!

Free to the public! Come join the fun at the 4th annual New River Valley Sheep & Goat Festival. Help Bo Peep find her purple sheep! See and learn about numerous breeds of sheep and goats, watch shearing, goat milking, working dog demos, live music, professional artisans, as well as many other activities for kids including a petting zoo, strawbale maze, and pumpkin painting. Kids can take a ride on the tractor train. Be entertained as Bo Peep reads to the children “Goats in Coats” by Michelle Cook (a free book will be given to children while supply lasts).

We’re excited to bring back our livestock display barn and starter flock auction. A perfect opportunity if you’re looking to get in the business or just want to ask questions from the farmers who work the industry every day. Enjoy browsing artisan booths with handmade crafts of angora wool, felted wares, knitting, paintings, jewelry, and more. New this year, beginner classes in felting and finger knitting.

Lunch and snack opportunities aplenty; everything from gyro burgers, beer brats, homemade donuts and a variety of sheep and goat cheeses! There’s something for everyone!

This event highlights more than 700 members of the New River Valley Sheep and Goat Association representing 300 farms. Located at the New River Valley Fairgrounds, the rolling hills are a beautiful backdrop for the festival. There’s plenty of parking! Rain? No problem. We’ve plenty of space to put us under roof!
