5/11: Narrows Kids’ Fishing Day
The Town of Narrows presents the 16th Annual Kid’s Fishing Day on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Narrows Town Park.
• 8:00 am: Gates Open
• 9:00-10:00 am: Fishing Only for Ages 3-8
• 10:00 am: Fishing Opens for All Kids
• 2:00 pm: Fishing Ends
Enjoy a day of fishing and fun for children ages 3 to 15! Kids will be fishing in a nearby creek that has been stocked with trout.
There will be an Official Weigh Station and citation sized fish can be measured and weighed. There will be trophies given in each age group for the biggest fish caught and prizes awarded throughout the day including a grand prize. Fishing instruction will also be provided.
The first 375 children to register will get a free t-shirt. There will also be crafts, games and plenty of the other activities throughout the day. Food will be available for purchase from the Narrows Fire Department.
The first hour from 9:00-10:00 am will be exclusive fishing for ages 3-8 to ensure they get a fair chance at fishing.
Our goal is to educate them on the joys of fishing and the dangers of drugs. We want to ensure that the children of Narrows and surrounding communities know that there are far better activities to participate in than drug use.
The event is sponsored by the Town of Narrows, the Giles County Sheriff’s Department and the Giles Early Education Project in conjunction with the Virginia Department of Game & Inland Fisheries.
The Narrows Town Park, or “The Boom”, is located on five acres situated on Route 61 between Wolf Creek and Park Drive in Narrows, VA.
