3/7: Tellico in Concert
Blacksburg native Anya Hinkle returns for a special concert at the Alexander Black House and Cultural Center on Thursday, March 7th at 7 PM with her Asheville, NC-based band Tellico. With vivid original storytelling, vibrant musicianship and arresting honesty, Asheville NC’s Tellico explores the beauty of songcraft through the lens of the Appalachian string band tradition. Their distinctive sound combines some of the most authentic voices, compelling songs and talented instrumentalists in North Carolina and beyond.
$20 general admission, $25 VIP ticket (limited to 25 seats reserved directly in front of the band) with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the Museum. Light refreshments provided. Beer and wine are available for purchase. More info at http://blacksburgmuseum.org or call 540-443-1600.
Tellico features the singing and songwriting of Anya Hinkle (guitar, fiddle) and Stig Stiglets (bass, harmonica), with Aaron Ballance on dobro and Jed Willis on mandolin and clawhammer banjo. In late 2018, Tellico released Woven Waters (Organic Records) produced by Celtic guitar legend John Doyle and quickly won honors on folk charts for #1 song and artist in just its first month at radio. Tour highlights include appearances at MerleFest, Gettysburg Bluegrass Festival, and Bristol Rhythm and Roots to name a few (for upcoming and past shows see https://tellicoband.com/shows).
