$100,000 NIST Grant to Jensen Hughes, Inc.

0,000 NIST Grant to Jensen Hughes, Inc.The U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has awarded Jensen Hughes, located in Blacksburg, a $100,000 grant for a project that involves a Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS) to improve fire growth predictions. U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement:

“Improvements in fire and building safety systems enhance public safety.

“This grant for $100,000 helps Jensen Hughes develop a computational model tool necessary for fire simulations and educating our fire protection community.”

BACKGROUND

The project awarded is entitled “Development of Efficient Pyrolysis Modeling for Accurate Fire Growth Predictions.”

To solve their clients’ most pressing and critical safety challenges, Jensen Hughes uses their network of in-house lab facilities, led by the industry’s most well-respected scientists and engineers in their fields, to conduct testing under variable conditions and applications.
