$100,000 NIST Grant to Jensen Hughes, Inc.

The U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has awarded Jensen Hughes, located in Blacksburg, a $100,000 grant for a project that involves a Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS) to improve fire growth predictions. U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement:

“Improvements in fire and building safety systems enhance public safety.

“This grant for $100,000 helps Jensen Hughes develop a computational model tool necessary for fire simulations and educating our fire protection community.”

BACKGROUND

The project awarded is entitled “Development of Efficient Pyrolysis Modeling for Accurate Fire Growth Predictions.”
