Blacksburg: On Monday, January 17, the Town of Blacksburg will observe Martin Luther King, Jr., day. Due to the potential for inclement weather on Sunday, closures and cancellations may impact the holiday schedule. Updates will be posted to the Town’s social media sites, Blacksburg.gov, and distributed to individuals signed up to receive Blacksburg Citizens Alerts.

Facilities and Services

Town Offices
Town administrative offices will be closed Monday.

Blacksburg Transit
Blacksburg Transit administrative offices will be closed Monday. BT will operate on Intermediate Service in Blacksburg. Visit https://ridebt.org for more information.

Blacksburg Aquatic Center
Open during regular hours Monday.

Blacksburg Community Center
Open during regular hours Monday.

Refuse and recycling collection will take place Monday in the southeast quadrant.

It is very likely that Blacksburg will see significant snowfall Sunday into early Monday morning. Public Works will begin pretreating the streets on Saturday and plowing main thoroughfares and neighborhoods once the storm begins on Sunday.

Residents are asked to move their vehicles from the streets so the plows can safely and efficiently clear the snow. Most importantly, please be safe. Unless vehicular travel is absolutely essential, please consider staying at home until the storm passes and the roads are clear.

Christiansburg: In observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Town Hall and the Aquatic Center will be closed. The Recreation Center will be closed Jan. 14-17 for the Rockstar Invitational Gymnastics Meet.

Solid waste normally collected on Mondays will be collected on Tuesday, Jan. 18, along with Tuesday’s regular collection.

Radford: City offices will be closed on Monday, January 17, 2022 for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The solid waste collection schedule is as follows:

Drop Center:
Monday, January 17: CLOSED
Wednesday, January 19: REOPEN
