Chalmer Thomas Blevins, 84, of Dublin, passed away Friday, June 22, 2012 in the Pulaski Health Care Center. Born April 11, 1928 in Kentucky, he was the son of the late David Blevins and Belvia Sheets Blevins. His loving and beloved wife of 51 years, Catherine Smith Blevins and numerous brothers and sisters, also preceded him in death. He was a veteran of the United States Navy & Air Force. He served with the Naval Occupational Forces after World War II in the European Theatre and on patrol when Israel became a nation in 1948.While in the Air Force, he served during the Korean War. He received the Korean Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Navy Occupational Medal, and European Clasp. He was a retired mechanic for the former Kenrose Mfg. Co. & then Russell Apparel Company. He will always be remembered as Wal-mart greeter in Pulaski. Mr. Blevins was a member of the Dora Highway Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher for many years. He loved his special church family and enjoyed singing, lay speaking, and other numerous church activities. He loved his family and was devoted to them and also loved his special friends and neighbors. He was a wonderful husband, father, and gentleman and was a fine example of what our Heavenly Father would want us to be. We want to "Thank" all the doctors, nurses and staff who took care of him during his illness. Surviving are his loving and devoted daughter to both parents, Diane Blevins, Dublin; sister, Thelma Stamper, Chilhowie. Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Monday, June 25, 2012, in the Bower Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Harry Gunter and Rev. Johnny Howlett officiating. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin, with the Pulaski VFW Post # 1184 conducting military honors.
