Albert, Annie Mae Slusser

albert annie slusserAnnie Mae Slusser Albert, 100, of Blacksburg, departed this life June 15, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Allen Albert. She is survived by her twin sons, Allen and David; and her daughter, Rae Anne Harris; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Annie Mae grew up in the Roanoke valley, graduated from VPI in 1934, and practiced as a Registered Nurse. A member for 68 years, she served the Blacksburg Christian Church in many capacities. She was a humble, holy, and faithful servant all of her years. Annie Mae was a friend to anyone she met, always willing to help them out or to share vegetables from her garden. She befriended many VPI students, providing childcare for many of their children while they were in school. She will be missed, but never forgotten, by many throughout our community. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the special group of caregivers who meant so much to her these last few years and to many others who have touched her life. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 17, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home in Blacksburg. A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 18, 2012 at the Blacksburg Christian Church at 2 p.m. with interment at the Westview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Blacksburg Christian Church Building Fund.
