Nester, Gerald Harmon

Gerald Harmon Nester, 67, of Pembroke and Chesterfield departed this life unexpectedly Friday morning, June 15, 2012, at his home. Born in Christiansburg on May 8, 1945, he was a son of the late Freddie Lee and Hazel Shelor Nester. Gerald was a 1963 graduate of Giles High School, a graduate of Ferrum Jr. College, and a graduate of RPI (now VCU). He had been employed as a sales representative for educational resources, and later at Acme Paper Company and Kings Dominion. He enjoyed following the Hokies and supporting the VPI teams. He leaves to cherish his memory his son and daughter-in-law, Brent L. Nester and Kylee Sollein of Durham, N.C.; his beloved sister, Jennifer Nester Sullivan of Pembroke; his maternal aunt, Opal S. Hylton, of Radford; his paternal aunt, Maurine Nester, of Salem; and numerous cousins. Memorial services will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 5 p.m. in the Pembroke First United Methodist Church with Pastor Rob Lough and Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will be private at a later date. The family will receive friends at the church from 4 until 5 p.m. one hour before the services. The Kendall Funeral Home in Pembroke is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to kendallfuneralhome.com.
