The Floyd Rhythm & Vine Festival, a benefit for The Jacksonville Center for the Arts and Floyd County Cares, Inc., is scheduled for Saturday, July 7, from 11am to 6pm. In the absence of Floyd Fandango, this festival will allow people to celebrate at the beginning of July for Independence Day as well as at the end of the month- all only a half a mile away from Floydfest.
The festival will feature artisans, food vendors and seven Virginia wineries. The participating wineries are AmRhein’s, Attimo, Château Morrisette, Rockbridge Vineyard, Stanburn, Vertias and Villa Appalaccia. Additionally, two live bands will be performing at the festival- Sister Sparrow & the Dirty Birds from 11am to 1pm and Sons of Bill from 2 to 5pm.
Sister Sparrow & the Dirty Birds is a nine-piece band that puts a modern spin on classic soul. They have opened for the Black Keys, the Neville Brothers, Dr. John, the Rebirth Brass Band, and the Soul Rebels Brass Band, among others.
Sons of Bill is a rock band that started in 2006 with three brothers and long-time musical friends Seth Green and Todd Wellons. As a tribute to the man who taught them how to play guitar, write songs, drive a stick-shift, and back up a trailer, the band decided to name themselves Sons of Bill.
Regular admission includes a free wine glass and wine tastings at each participating winery’s booth, and designated driver/under 21 ticket holders receive unlimited lemonade or iced tea. Tickets are $18 in advance and $25 at the gate. Children age 12 and under are free. VIP ticket holders will get VIP services and preferred seating in VIP Tent with VIP menu not available to the general admission ticket holders. VIP tickets are $50 per person.
Festival-goers are advised to bring chairs, blankets, etc. for seating. The festival will be at the Nancy Morrisette Field at 3641 Black Ridge Road in Floyd located about a half a mile before Château Morrisette Winery. This event is rain or shine.
