05/22: Zumba Fitness Classes Starting
Every class will feel like a party! You don’t have to know how to dance, just move your body and follow the lead and you will see how fitness can be fun. Class starts at a beginning level and will contain the steps of reggaeton, salsa, merengue, hip-hop and samba. Tennis shoes required.
InteractiveGIS® Tool Now Available
We are pleased to announce a new interactive mapping interface on our website! Blacksburg-based InteractiveGIS, Inc. recently rolled out the Town of Christiansburg’s new web-based Geographic Information System (GIS). InteractiveGIS can be used to view streets, addresses, aerial imagery and tax parcel information for property within town limits.
NRCC 2012 Early Learning Center Graduation

Nine pre-schoolers, who will enter Kindergarten this fall, “graduated” recently from the New River Community College Early Learning Center (ELC). The children, who are enrolled in the college’s ELC, were honored at a special ceremony on campus before an audience of their family and friends.

Blacksburg High School Playoffs
Come support the Blacksburg Bruins as they compete in the following playoffs! Bruins Track will run at Cave Spring High School in the River Ridge District Championship May 18 and 19.
Basketball Camps Being Offered

Blacksburg Parks and Recreation will be offering Basketball Camp. There will be 2 separate camps one on Tuesdays beginning June 5 and one on Thursdays beginning June 9 and lasting thru August 9 at Kipps Gym from 6-8pm.

Interstates are mostly clear, but drivers should watch for blowing snow.
In Roanoke County, drifting snow has created moderate and severe conditions on part of Route 221 in the Bent Mountain area. In addition, there are some secondary roads (those numbered 600 and above) in moderate condition Roanoke County, particularly in the higher elevations, where snow is drifting.
In Craig County, primary and secondary roads are in moderate condition due to overnight snow showers and drifting.
In Botetourt County, primary roads are in minor condition, but secondary roads are covered in blowing snow.
In Pulaski County, there are moderate road conditions reported on primary and secondary roads due to overnight snow showers and drifting.
In Montgomery and Giles counties, primary roads are in minor condition, meaning they are mostly clear with isolated slick spots, but drivers should be aware of blowing snow creating icy conditions. Secondary roads in these two Montgomery and Giles counties are in moderate condition.
In Carroll and Floyd counties, minor conditions are reported on primary roads, and secondary roads are in moderate condition due to drifting.
In Bedford and Franklin counties, primary roads are in minor condition; secondary roads are in moderate condition.

How might you die? Possibly in the dark of night, possibly the light of day, but you will be dead, either way.
Death by accident or natural death as it is called? Know you not, because such a final moment cannot be known by the befallen.
Will you look good in your casket for all to see and mourn? Could it be that cremation will remove your look of scorn?
Will you be allowed to “take it with you”, or will you make your final journey empty-handed? The Grand Reaper knows the answer but he isn’t talking.
Isn’t it strange how all words cease to be spoken, all acts cease to be completed, all thoughts forever remain frozen in time, and all sights will never again be seen?
The finality of death serves to prove the awesome power of the enemy who stalks us to the very end of the life of our body. Death fulfills the purpose, of both punishment and prophesy, as spoken by our Father Who art in Heaven.
