06/25: VDOT Hearing on Bridge Replacements

The Virginia Department of Transportation will hold a citizen information meeting on a proposed project to replace the Interstate 81 bridges over the New River and the Route 232 bridge over I-81 on the Montgomery and Pulaski County line.The meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 25, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the City of Radford Municipal Building Council Chambers, 10 Robertson Street, in Radford.

On June 17, 2013, at 10:40am, Blacksburg Police responded to the 400 block of Roanoke Street, SE, in reference to suspicious vehicle occupied by two male subjects. Responding officers located the vehicle and made contact with one male occupant. A Blacksburg Police drug detection K9 was utilized, which alerted on the vehicle. The Old Pros Big Band Orchestra will celebrate its 40th anniversary at a special performance at New River Community College on Saturday, June 22.  From 8 to 10 p.m. dancers (and listeners) will have the opportunity to enjoy the sounds of the Big Band Era in Edwards Hall, room 117, at New River Community College in Dublin.

The Virginia Department of Transportation will hold a design public hearing on a proposed project to improve Route 8 (Riner Road) at the intersection of Route 669 (Union Valley Road and Fairview Church Road) in Montgomery County. The project will begin 0.237 mile south of Route 669 and end 0.191 mile north of Route 669.
